Birkenhead Tunnel Closure
The
Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride,
once again has special permission by
Merseytravel to have the Tunnel closed between
the hours of 07:00 and 15:00 to all other
traffic. However no participant will be allowed
to start the event from Liverpool after 09:30
and you must be back through the Tunnel by 15:00
on your return journey. You cannot use either
Tunnel to return home to the Wirral by bike
following the completion of the event.
Diversions for motorists
will be put in place to avoid disruption.
As the only cycle event in the country to
include an underground section of 3 Miles,
the tunnel closure is vital to the event, and
part of the attraction for the thousands of
cyclists that enter year on year.
The Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride
would like to thank
Merserytravel, as they make
the tunnel closure possible.
Auction of Rik Waddon's Cycle Jersey for
Claire House
Rik Waddon has supported the Liverpool
Chester Liverpool Bike Ride for the past few
years and has kindly donated his very own signed
Team GB cycling jersey that will be auctioned
after the event to raise money for Claire House
Hospice, the beneficiary charity for the event.
With Rik as the patron for Claire House
Hospice, they are a perfect fit for this
mass-participation cycle event.
The cycle jersey will be on show at the event
and will be auctioned on eBay following the
event on the 8th July. All
proceeds will be donated to
Claire House
Hospice. You can view the video of
Rik anouncing the auction and signing the
certificate of authenticity
here.
With
limited government funding, the hospice requires
£6,500 every day to provide a first-class level
of care. Being part of events such as
the Liverpool Chester Liverpool Bike Ride are a
vital part of the fundraising for Claire House.
